Shadowbinders is a comic that has been going on for 4. 5 years now (We will be online 5 years in August.) At first glance it would seem that Shadowbinders is relatively young, but actually it is much older. The story first started out around 1997 or 1998.
Tid Bit: The first Shadowbinders character ever drawn was Winston.
The original story was about a 14 or 15 year old named Andrew Tizzle. Originally Andrew’s father was an interdimentsional traveler that used the True North to travel between worlds. His father goes missing and Sid, who was his father’s apprentice, finds him and trains him to hunt creatures.
Tid Bit: The ship was called the True North because as long as his father could find the ship he could always find his way. Like the North Star.

Yeah. Thom can draw super detailed, but doing a webcomic required us to cut back on detail to maintain updates.
So, after he did all this work he decided to shelve it because at that time webcomics were just starting and publishing was far more expensive.
Fast forward a couple of years. Thom met this amazing art teacher with flaming red hair and a sparkling personality *grin*. Actually, he met me and showed me the drawings. I took them to school and showed my classes. The kids loved them. After a few months we got married and forgot about Shadowbinders for a bit. Who could blame him. I can be a bit of a handful sometimes.
Then, around 2007, I started toying with an idea about a girl from our world that somehow could move between our world and another one. As I started laying out the story I realized that some of Thom’s original characters could fit into my story. Reluctantly Thom agreed to work with me on it (seriously, it took me almost 3 years to get him to agree to it) In early 2009, I had lists of names for our two lead characters and we settled on Rhen and Mia. April 2010, he finally sat down with me and did some character designs for our combined vision. These designs changed a bit more when we started.
Then in August of 2010 Shadowbinders set sail online and we have been chugging along ever since. It was a long time in the making and if it were a person, it would be old enough to vote. Now I feel old.
