Do you want a ring that looks like Mia’s? You make this ring for around $100.00 – sometimes less.
Here’s how we made my version…
We found this setting on Jewelry Television. It’s sterling silver and costs $56.99. It comes in size 6 or 7 (you can have it sized it up or down.)
The stone in the center is a lab created ruby.
“Lab created” does not mean they’re fake. They have the same properties as natural stones, they are just man-made.
However, lab created gemstones are not imitations. For example, diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds have been manufactured in labs to possess identical chemical and physical characteristics to the naturally occurring variety. Synthetic (lab created) corundum, including ruby and sapphire, are very common and they cost only a fraction of the natural stones.
You need an 8mm stone. You can find them on eBay — from reputable sellers — for as low as a few dollars (after shipping) They are gorgeous in person. You can choose from different facet cuts as well — it’s your choice.
If you would like to spend more and purchase a better stone, please do so!
Then you need to find a local jeweler that can set your ring for you. Around here the price ranges from $15-$30. Price will depend on your location and the whatever your jeweler charges.
(My ring was taken to a jeweler to be set by my parents and it cost them about $15.00.)
If you need to size up or down, that will also be an extra expense.
Please feel free to give this a try. We would love to see photos if anyone else invests in making one. It’s not difficult to do at all!
(Note: Magical properties not guaranteed. YMMV!)
