well wata ya know Rhen is “truly noble”, I have to admit I didn’t entirely see that coming. I’m guessing the the uncaring jerk who likes flirting is most girls is mostly a ruse that Rhen likes to put on.
I’m getting the feeling that Rhen and Elaina were in love and wanted to get married, but her father forced them to break up because he’s not royalty. That would explain why he would zap his friend in the back, to save him from the same pain. He’s probably at least a little ticked at Elaina for obeying her father and breaking up with him. He probably still loves her, even though he’s no longer “in love” with her. That’s why her father knew he could trust Rhen to protect her.
It could be Evangeline that he was in love with, like goldenrhino suggested, but that wouldn’t explain why he seems ticked at Elaina right now.
Rhen’s womanizing is probably his way of dealing with his broken heart. He probably thinks he’ll never have true love again, so he never forms real relationships with women. It’s hard to get your heart broken if you never give it to anyone.

I think he would hit a girl if he had to.

It would be sexist not to punch a girl if she deserved it, but then I’m a girl so that wouldn’t be an issue for me . . .

She could always give up her “Right to Succession” renounce the title and live aboard with Tristan.

I smell a tragic backstory coming on!
Or more likely just cryptic hinting at a tragic backstory that will be revealed later. The things I put up with for my love of this webcomic.

The two personality aspects are not as incompatible as you would suggest.

Hmm. That’s a good theory…
(Thanks for all the comments, BTW!)

Chances are, Evangeline was more than a sister to him…

Oh. OH! Okay I get it now, she’s the missing princess! (Right?) Dang, looking back now I’m surprised I didn’t realize that sooner.
