Tweet Kneon Ah Rhen, you’re ruining that kid. goldenrhino Except Rhen’s reasons are scarily reasonable… Tuiteyfruity Pulling on my heartstrings, that what you’re doing! arg! the feels! rosy Well, sugar comes first on his list. He’s just a kid with a mentor like Rhen, after all 😉 Jamming Easier to “talk the talk” than to “walk the walk”. Marci He may be one of the protagonists, but he is still human. Way to keep the characters believable! Kneon I don’t think there’s a flawless character in the entire comic. 😉 nesu42 Kids are inherently selfish. This isn’t an insult or the result of me being jaded, it’s true. It’s a survival mechanism, leftover from hunter-gatherer days: kids are too small and weak to do any hunting and can only do so much gathering, but they need alot of food to grow so they take all they can get whenever they can get it. Cuteness is the main method they use to get what they need from non-parents, though these days it’s abused for getting toys and things they don’t need. So little Andrew is just exhibiting his natural instincts. He’s a good kid, so if he does have anything leftover he may very well give them something. And when he’s older he’ll likely grow out of at least some of the selfishness. Most people do, to a lesser or greater extent. SotiCoto People are inherently selfish. Life is inherently selfish. Nobody ever has and nobody ever will “grow out of” it. They just learn to mask it better. They get a bit better at mapping cause and effect to realise that forgoing gratification now can lead to greater gains later on. Throw complications and convolutions into the mix and the simple-minded folk can’t traceroute the motives any more… BUT the root intent is always self-serving. Always. Selfishness isn’t a flaw. It is a vital aspect of existence. It is being open and direct about it that society frowns upon… because society is founded on lies. Simple as. Kneon Rhen’s attitude toward philanthropy is partially a result of his childhood. Which was rough. And we’ll tell that story. Someday. Maybe just not in THIS comic. 😉 Star And Winston seems to know exactly what Andrew’s going through. (make a fake name, too, so your friends can’t find you) Unfair is when you have to pay to get extra information, or when signing up for extra information gets a bunch of spam or other stuff sent your way. Finally, they can’t post everything they want on this website, so they need another outlet. The easiest and most accessible? Facebook.
