Theory 1: Ze ring. Now seeing as it got activated by Mia’s blood the first time i belive it’s magical properties were locked until it came in contact with blood of the magical properties of a wizard to prevent just anyone to use it. If i were to wager a guess i would say that that the ring were created to recognise only one wizard bloodtype which would lead to the conclusion that some time long ago some ancestor of Mia were cast into our reality and never got back. Furthermore the ring’s seems somehow connected to Rhens family since the trips Mia makes into the other world allways send her straight to him but as the ring seemed to reject him (Could be some defensive system protecting the wearer from other wizards too i suppose) i believe that for whatever purpose the creator of the ring don’t want Rhens bloodline to get their hands on it. Off course there’s also the question about the rings exact magic properties, it seems to be able to effortlesly send the wearer back and forth between Earth and Belatyr which would prove that the ring itself holds an amazing amount of magic energy or that it draws its power from the wearer which again implies that Mia got latent and probably some hefty magical powers she has yet to tap into.
Theory 2: Rhens look a like
Well seeing as for me at least the “my father is the evil villain” plot
seems a bit to cliche i suggest the following possiblities,
1: Older brother who dissapeared mysteriously while conducting some forbidden experiment.
2; Uncle who had an falling out with Rhens father and left muttering something about getting even.
3: Evil clon created by the the weird shadowy thingies for purposes yet unknown.
4: Evil Rhen from some pararell universe thinking of taking over some more realities.
5: A Rhen look a a like from earth who somehow got pulled into Belatyr possibly throught whatever place those shadow thingies are from, ( the void maybe?) and are used by them to further their evil schemes.
Phew.. well could probably add some more theories and thoughts but i doubt anyone cares to read a minor artichle about the subject so i’m just gonna stop with this and look forward too see what will happen next.
Wow ..interesting theories there. I will tell you that Marek is not related to Rhen in any way. He does look a bit like Rhen, but that is more Kneon’s art style. He is not related. I can answer that.
The ring…well that will be explained in time 😉 As will Mia’s connection to Belatyr.
Thank you for putting so much thought and time into our story. That makes my day! I hope to hear more from you in the future!
Adding onto Philip’s theory, I think that Mia’s grandfather must’ve known something about Belatyr. Or he could’ve also been from that world, if Mia’s grandmother found it it in the attic amongst his things. I wonder when Mia will try to decipher that journal, since it probably holds a lot of information on the ring and Belatyr itself.
Actually I think it would be more logical to bring the journal to Rhen and the crew, as loathsome as that may sound to her it seems like the most logical option to me.
What if Grandpa brought Grandma to Earth to avoid the purge? Or, maybe the book and ring were really Grandma’s, and she fled to Earth, and settled down with Grandpa

Was it intentional that every airship except for ours is going AWAY from the city?

Yes. They are a special fleet leaving the city. It will be explained shortly.

I think Mia’s ancestor was from Belatyr, one of those mysterious wanderers 150 years ago or a bit more.
